Our Story
Vera Smail, owner of Patch & Petal Farms and Vera's Flower Truck, has an unwavering love for flowers and farming. Both have been an integral part of her life for as long as she can remember. Vera's passion for flowers blossomed during her childhood, where she spent her summers assisting her mother in the garden of their home on a cattle ranch in Hat Creek, California. She enjoyed picking flowers, designing bouquets, and bringing them indoors for the family to enjoy. During her high school years, Vera worked for a local florist, where she gained valuable knowledge about the business side of floristry. These days, Vera wears many hats, including being a devoted mother to two sets of twins, born 16 months apart. Now, the roles have flipped, and Vera has her own set of little assistants, helping her with weeding, planting, and growing.
Tyler Smail is the trophy husband of Vera. He wears many hats: Dirt mover, drip irrigation fixer, soil amender and...website designer! So, if there is something funky about this site, it's probably his fault. But, on the plus side, he got to write his own bio and sneak it into the About Us page without Vera knowing. Love ya, honey!
